34k Mile Survivor: 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

In April of 1969, a gentleman walked into a Chevrolet dealership in New Alexandria, Pennsylvania, and drove away in a brand new Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. Now, more than 50-years later, that same gentleman has decided that the time has come for him to part with his much-loved Corvette. That means that someone has the opportunity to become the next proud owner of this one-owner, fully documented, low mileage classic. It is located in Bedford, Pennsylvania, and has been listed for sale here on eBay. The BIN for the Corvette has been set at $38,500, but the option is available to make an offer.

The owner states that the Corvette has never suffered from any form of accident damage and that the Fathom Green paint that graces its panels is all original. The owner admits that the paint is beginning to show its age in a few spots, but it doesn’t look as though any of these issues are particularly bad. The White top is also original, and the rear window has remained remarkably clear for a Convertible of this age. The exterior trim and chrome also appears to be in good condition, while the original glass seems to be free of cracks or significant scratches.

The originality of this Corvette extends right through its drive-train. The numbers-matching 350ci V8 retains all of its original ancillaries such as the carburetor, distributor, smog pump, etc. The original 4-speed manual transmission feeds the 300hp from that engine through to the original rear end. Disappointingly, the owner doesn’t indicate how well the Corvette runs and drives, but what he does indicate is that it has covered a genuine, and documented 34,430 miles. Speaking of documentation, there is no shortage of it for the next owner to read and enjoy. The original Tank Sticker is believed to still be on the tank. In addition, the car comes with its original title, Owner’s Manual, Protect-O-Plate, Trim Ring Instruction, and the original Instruction Card on how the ignition lock works. The owner floats the idea of submitting the Corvette for judging as a Bloomington Gold Survivor, and if the vehicle really is as clean and original as the description suggests, then this is an exercise that could be well worth the effort.

From a condition standpoint, the news remains very positive when we look around inside the Corvette. The original Saddle Vinyl interior presents very nicely, with no signs of any rips, tears, or significant signs of deterioration anywhere inside the car. All of the plastic trim appears to be close to perfect, while the carpet has managed to escape the sort of wear on the outer edges which can afflict Corvettes over time. The interior remains completely unmodified, with the original AM/FM radio still present, and the only item that is identified as not working is the clock. Hands up all the Corvette enthusiasts out there who find that surprising. Hmm, that is exactly no-one who finds that surprising!

For an enthusiast who has a passion for the C3 Corvette, this is a car that has to tick so many boxes. One-owner, fully documented, low mileage, original. That’s a great combination, and while this one is being offered in a 30-day auction, I suspect that it will be long gone before the 30-days expires. I just wonder whether the next owner is going to be one of our readers intent on buying themselves a New Year’s present. I wouldn’t blame them for doing that one bit.

This appears to be a really nice original ‘Vette. Too bad it wasn’t ordered with side pipes and the front gill trim. Great colors, I like it!

    Wow!
I have stated before that I am not a Corvette fan (although I keep looking at them, maybe I am becoming one & didn’t realize it). I also stated in the past that I am not a fan of the color green, however this is a shade of green I never minded. With the tan interior & white top, this is really a looker.
I would buy this and drive it with pride!

You are clearly “Corvette-curious”. It may be time to come out of the garage and accept it.

Great looking Vette. Once looked at one – Gray with a black interior and top, 350-350 with a 4 speed, convertible with the removable hard top. It had been gone through with paperwork to match and was somewhat reasonably priced at the time. That thing ran like a scalded dog, I really liked it. I was mad when the seller sold it to someone else that had offered the same $$ later that I had for the car. This was one car I really missed getting away.

This site has taught me to be watchful/skeptical when looking at a car for purchase. However, every now and then the vehicle will look like the great pieces of art that they were designed to be. To my naive eye, this looks like a Vette that you have to “give it up” for, it sure seems as though it is as advertised and more. Nice car all the way around.

Try a C7 while you are looking. They should start droppingg some in price soon and as the owner of a C7 I can tell you that it is the only vette of the 12 I have owned thst I have no urge to modify. Great car.

I agree on the C7’s coming down, but I’d guess that won’t really happen till the 2d year or so after the C8’s come out. Most of the ones I’ve looked at lately are still too high for my budget.

Getting Corette envy! Amazing how one owner kept it for 50 yrs and didn’t modify it.

This is a swell car. I say worth the BIN $$$ And its perfectly safe to drive or ride in. Just don’t ever fix the clock. BTW try not to whistle or eat bananas in the car, Old Chevrolets are picky. Later………………………..JIMMY.

50 years is a very long time to own one car credit to the gentleman of this masterpiece. Will be a difficult time to see this beauty driving out of the driveway for the last time after 50 years, I was thinking a $1000 dollars for every year as a mark of respect not 38k.

In the ebay pic taken(in the rain!), the car seems higher than stock in the front & rear.

Finally, documented mileage! I find it incredibly hard to believe the mileage figures on so many of the cars here. Is gullibility a requirement to shop on this site? Or do the eventual buyers simply overlook the mileage and pay what the vehicle is worth absent accurate mileage claims.

350 4 speed great shape!!! How can you go wrong???
