350 LT1 Upgrade: 1955 Chevrolet 210

We’ve featured several Tri-Five Chevrolet offerings on Barn Finds recently, with some in fine condition already and others needing varying amounts of TLC.  This 1955 model is one of those that already seems like a fun cruiser, with the seller stating that it’s ready to enjoy while the future owner takes things to an elevated level.  Another possibility is to just let it be, if you happen to be a fan of the weathered finish look.  This one’s a 210, the middle-of-the-road trim level in the ’55 roster, and can be found here on eBay in Bohemia, New York.  Immediate gratification can be had for $18,500, as that’s where the owner has set his buy-it-now price.  However, the opportunity to make an offer more to your liking is also an alternative.

The owner seems to hit the mark here when calling his Chevy a cool ratty driver, which he says gets more attention at car gatherings than nicer ’55s do.  Although some patchwork is said to have been done on the body, it seems reasonably smooth for the most part, with nothing standing out as a glaring issue that would require immediate attention.  On the other hand, if you want to spray on a shiny coat of fresh paint, it probably wouldn’t take an exhaustive amount of effort to get the panels in decent enough shape to move forward.  The car is shown with both Cragars and staggered Corvette Rally wheels, with the latter included in the sale, unless an additional cost can be agreed upon for the S/S mags.

This one’s said to have been built back in the late ’90s or early 2000s, with power provided by a 350 pulled from a wrecked mid-nineties Camaro.  The transmission from the F-Body is also present, an automatic of the 4L60e variety, which has four forward gears.  The seller states that the engine starts right up and runs well, and although its mileage is unknown, the car is said to perform great on the highway and provide a smooth ride experience.

The ratty theme continues inside, with the blue factory front seat now covered by a black sheet.  A pair of sixties Impala SS buckets is also included, should the next owner wish to axe the bench, and I’d probably also consider installing a new headliner sooner rather than later.  Several shots from the underside are provided, which seem to show that the rails remain fairly solid, plus the rear end is said to still be the original unit.  While this one’s far from perfect, there are enough good points to make me think this 1955 Chevrolet 210 is worth considering.  What are your thoughts, and what’s a fair price to pay here?

As-is, it would make a nice 2 Lane Blacktop tribute car.

Most primered ’55 2 doors get that distinction, and an interesting sidenote, I saw a clip of Jay Lenos garage, where they recreated a ’55 just like in the movie, and he had James Taylor come see it. What was funny, is Taylor admitted he hated making the movie so much, he never did see the final cut. He was basically unimpressed with Lenos car. Even Jay Leno has a swing and a miss sometimes.

Well, James Taylor didn’t exactly set the world on fire as an actor in that movie…good thing he didn’t quit his daytime singing job….

I like it as a Buy it and Drive it. Just needs an AC unit installed and the bucket seats.

It has a very good add from the seller describing the vehicle and what has been done over the years.!
