Trivia question: What Chrysler product saw its sales grow by a multiple of six between 1967 and 1968? The Dodge Charger, of course. A redesign of the B-bodied intermediates did the trick, bringing the tally from under 16,000 units in ’67 to more than 92,000 in ’68. The car was little changed for 1969 and continued to draw some large numbers (85,000+). The seller has a Charger SE for sale in Helena, Alabama, although I don’t think the SE was a model until the 1971 model year. This is a rough non-running project that is also not numbers matching. This Mopar is available here on eBay where bidders have raised the ante to $9,800.
The VIN identifies this ‘69 Charger as having a 383 cubic inch V8 under the hood when new. So, while the engine is a swap, at least it was replaced with something similar to the date of build. We’re told it has a 4-speed manual, but its originals are not discussed. A fender tag is present for scrutiny, but it was taken off the car and is difficult to read due to corrosion. The car doesn’t drive and from what we can tell that has probably been the case for some time.
Rust is doing its best to consume this Dodge and the seller confirms it has already found its way into the floors, trunk, rear quarter panels, and tail panels. The green paint appears to have been applied with a rattle can, but you’re going to want to redo it anyway. The previous owner redid the interior with duct tape, which is as good as upholstery any day, right (not!)? We’re told this automobile once had factory air conditioning, so it was probably a classy ride back in the day.
Second-generation Chargers have been popular for years and seem to bring big money regardless of condition. If you like a challenge and have the bank book to oblige, is there room in your collection for this project Mopar?

I have seen the SE package on other 69 Chargers. When I have seen the package, “SE” emblems are on the center-top of the door interiors and on the outside of the C-pillars (the last one I paid attention to was a friend’s in the late 80’s).
That 4 speed is driving the price – another insurance when new….
Is that “HOLES” in the firewall? Sure looks like it. What would have to happen to a car for it to get that bad. As much as I like Mopar I wouldn’t dare take this one on. Hope someone has the cojones to put it back together. Hate to see any classic get torn apart.

That paint job reminds me of when I was a kid working at Otasco. A customer came into the store, bought a whole case of John Deere green spray paint, then walked out, moved his pickup two rows over and sprayed the whole thing green right there in the parking lot.
