One of the entries in the Cutlass family that only lasted a single generation was the Ciera, although it spanned a relatively long period, beginning in 1982 and not ending until 1996. The Ciera rode on the front-wheel-drive GM A-Platform, which the car shared with corporate cousins the Pontiac 6000, Chevrolet Celebrity, and the Buick Century. Body styles included both a two-door and four-door, plus a wagon, with this 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera here on Craigslist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, of the sedan variety. With just 38,000 original miles, this one’s still very nicely preserved, and the asking price of $4,500 OBO sounds like a reasonable price to pay. Our thanks go out to reader Mitchell G. for the excellent tip here!

The seller says this Olds is elderly owned, which may explain why this one has traveled just over a thousand miles per year since new. There’s a Superior dealer tag still on the trunk lid from Summit, New Jersey, and also a NJ title. With that area not being too far from Philly, it’s possible that this one’s remained in this vicinity its entire life. The light blue paint still retains some of its glossy luster, with a small ding on the driver’s quarter being the only noticeable body imperfection. Fortunately, there are no obvious signs of rust outside, so hopefully, this one hasn’t seen much winter operation.

There’s nothing especially fancy regarding the interior, but the cloth seats appear to have held up well, and the condition inside seems like a good indication that the mileage stated is probably actual. The headliner is said to be sagging, but that’s a common issue in many cars from this time, and not a huge deal to remedy. Some very good news is that the seller states that the A/C is still blowing ice-cold.

Under the hood is a transverse-mounted 3.3-liter V6, and with a rating of 160 HP, it should provide adequate performance for most drivers. Everything appears to be in good order in the bay, and with so few miles, this one’s likely still a capable and dependable daily driver. I haven’t spotted too many of these on the road lately, and with the cleanliness and fine shape here, this one would certainly stand out. Is this 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera a sedan you’d be interested in pursuing?

Thanks Stephens, alot to like here. Crank windows w a/c. 160hp, fix the headliner, change the fluids and take it from there.
Ewww… Not a fan… Lol
Very reliable cars, I wish I knew someone who needed a car, and was close enough to it.
My dad’s car that I learned to drive and got my licence drive exam in.
So much memories, I even remember the smell.
It was running smooth.
I always liked the back window as it was round.
It makes me miss my 1990 Cutlass Cierra! 🙂
So long as gems like this pop up, I will never buy a new car. Dr. Olds knew how to combine performance and comfort in the 80s. I had a 1986 Olds Delta 88 Royale as one of my first cars (silver, with blue velvet interior, and a rarity, of sorts, as a COUPE instead of sedan. Dick Van Patten was in the commercials when the cars came out). Never gave me problems and floated like a cloud. Buy this, fix the headliner, and daily it til the wheels drop off. Someone is about to get a great car
miss my 87 with a 3.8. man, that car could smoke tire. wish i had extra cash i would pop right on that especially with a 3300 v6. great cars and mpgs
Yes an 87 Cierra with a 3.8, 4 speed auto and fe-3 was a performer and a very efficient machine.
What a great daily driver. Or you could buy a SUV that looks like every other SUV on the road. As stated, as long as these types of cars show up on Barn Finds, no need to ever buy another new car. I dig it!
I had one of these in the same color. It was a really good car, we racked up close to 300,000 miles on it. The car refused to die, lol.
