The 1968-72 era of the Chevrolet Nova is popular with “cloners” – taking regular examples and turning them into Super Sports. Since this 1969 has a numbers-matching drivetrain, it must be a real-deal SS 350, using a 300 hp small-block V8. The seller says the car is largely original, including the paint, and may only have 40,000 miles. Located in Riverhead, New York, this compact muscle car is available here on eBay for $30,000.
Muscle car interest was beginning to shift in the late 1960s to smaller cars. They could get the same job done with lesser engines that might be looked on more favorably by insurance companies. One example is the Dodge Dart Swinger 340, while another is the Chevy Nova SS 350 like the seller’s machine. Though a 396 cubic inch V8 was available, more of the car’s 17,600 takers went for the 350. That’s the case here, along with an M-20 4-speed manual transmission. With the indicated mileage, we doubt either has been apart.
This vehicle may be close to what it was like when it left the factory. And without power steering (which I would add; having owned a ’70 Nova with manual steering and a 350, it was a chore to manhandle). Yet it’s equipped with factory air conditioning, which needs a new compressor. The interior is not original, with new upholstery and a Bluetooth stereo. It has bucket seats, which makes getting cozy at the drive-in theater a little more difficult.
We’re told the Chevy drives well and has a 12-bolt rear-end. So, other than the A/C, it should be turnkey for regular weekend use. You could take it to the next level, but why spend the extra money? Just over 10,000 of these L48 Nova’s were produced in ’69. BTW, is that a cactus I see in one of the pics (in New York?).

GOOD eye Russ! This price seems a bit low for a numbers matching SS. Not crazy about the color, but If it checks out, this is the best buy I’ve seen here in awhile.
The price seems reasonable if the pictures are representative of the actual condition. I’d want to see it in person and know the seller is the registered owner.
Not everyone likes this color, but it looks good in person and will help keep the passenger compartment cool in the midday sun.

In beautiful condition and I love the color! Only thing that would be better is solid black. Given the condition and the options, seems like a reasonable price. I’d want to triple check all the claims before putting money down, though. So many counterfeits out there.
