Barn Finds reader Pat L. spotted a very intriguing listing on craigslist, showing what appears to be a vast quonset hut-like structure full of big body luxury sedans. The seller says all of the car stored here are barn finds and don’t run, and prices start at $5K. That seems ambitious to me, but check out the inventory list for yourself here on craigslist or go here if the ad disappears.
Wow – this place is huge. The vast majority of the vehicles here are from Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar and some luxury marques. Dead-center is a classic Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow that clearly belonged to an enthusiast at one point with that badge bar attached; next to it is a Euro-spec Mercedes-Benz W126 sedan with those awesome glass H4 headlights. To the extreme left is a 1970 W108 chassis Mercedes saloon.
The seller has numerous British projects as well, like this unfinished Jaguar E-Type coupe. There’s also a disassembled 1962 Jaguar Mark II in the gallery photos, along with what looks like a very complete mid-60s Bentley Continental. Other standalones include a 1980 Cadillac sedan and a 1983 Lincoln Continental Mark V. There’s also a 1963 Chevrolet Fire Truck, which you can see in the back left of the first photo.
I’d peg this as a very nice / complete mid-70s Mercedes 300D, but it could be a gas model as well. The paint may be tired but the rest of it looks quite complete. While the seller says every car starts at $5K, he also adds that it’s somewhat negotiable. As an added bonus, every vehicle comes with a Pennsylvania title, meaning these cars can move freely between other states with less risk than most craigslist finds. Which would you take home?
This ad screams, I’m not serious about selling my cars.
Steve R
Steve R the prices on all are negotiable and we have benn offered more than $5,000 for two of these cars. We are very serious about selling every one. If you are a serious buyer please contact us.
Seller states “Will post additional pictures this weekend” Yeah, right. They never do.
Why so negative and are you a buyer?
Wasn’t this on the Quonset Hut Finds website?
There are multiple cars there that are not worth $2,000. But the “starting price” is $5,000. So that means every single one of them is priced at triple full retail. He can keep them and most likely will and that’s probably why they are all there covered with dust for years.
James all prices are negotiable and yes, two of the 560 SELs are $2000 each and if you can write that check, they’re yours
You should change the listing, and contact the writer of this article to edit the price.
Rolls,Mercedes,Jags, and some “luxury marques”, that’s funny!
There’s a luxury marque buyer born every minute!
I’d sure love to have a building like that!
(Insulated, heated, well-lit, and with a cement floor.)
And a couple of lifts, a paint booth, a media and soda blast booth, etc….
(hey, a guy can dream!)
I was thinking the same.
Maybe one day soon it will be a reality.
Building and grounds are also for sale
That first image looks like something from a bad zombie movie.
NONE of the offerings run. NO test drives [if they don’t run, isn’t this a moot point?] LIMITED availability to see/inspect. Each requires a minimum bid of $5k
Translation: Look at my collection of cars rotting away. Make me an offer, but I’m never going to sell any of them.
The Cadillac, Lincoln, and the Roller? No market for them [$5k max for all three together] There are better big Benz’s on the market for that money. The [complete]Jag, the Bentley, and the smaller 1970s era MB’s are about all that’s of any real value.
Don’t know where you read a minimum bid of $5000; that is a suggested point to begin negotiations; a few of those cars have already been bid higher; most will be bid lower. Are you are a serious buyer?
Wheredo you see a Bentley Continental? Are my eyes that bad??
No Bentley Continental; there IS a Lincoln Continental (1983) and we also have a 1990 Bentley Turbo R, as well as a Rolls Royce Phantom V and the Silver Shadow shown
I also do not see a photo of a Bentley Continental. For reals, I would NOT buy a Rolls Royce from anybody who dresses like this. Get this fella as far away from my British sedan…let me talk to his boss!
Cool fool! Buy one of these and prove the point.
That would be a 1983 Mark VI, not Mark V.
You are correct it is a Mark VI 1983 and thank you for observation!
I’d be more interested in the fire truck…
It is a Chevrolet 1963 3500 series G Body fire truck with low miles;
I am the seller; thank you to Barn Finds for the added publicity for which we are grateful. These cars are all rust free and were all one family owner. Prices are of course negotiable and we hope that all of these cars find good homes; We will shoot more pictures on Saturday the 12th and post more detailed information after we inventory this cache; neither my friend Mike nor I do this as a business; it is a hobby and we happened on these by chance. Thanks for all the positive comments and hope to get this cars all back on the road best regards joe
Joe goes high while the Grumpy Old Men go low.
Your words (and pictures) have helped many with this listing Joe Palmer, and your politeness with all BF commenters is to be commended… Have a fine sale!
I’m surprised at all the negative comments. This was very interesting just to look at. They all look like very restore-able cars.
Thank you; as a result of the exposure from Barn Finds, we have sold the XKE shell to an international buyer. The phone has rung all day long with inquiries and several people are driving two hours to see the cars tomorrow. Thank you to Barn Finds, thank you to all the subscribers and to all who share our passion for resurrecting cars jp
Good luck Joe!
Hi,
I am 45 year old person having trouble letting go of three cars. I have asked what can potentially happen to vehicles if I hold on to them and add on to the stock.
Here is one real life answer.
Thanks to seller and author for sharing the story.
Oliver Rojas – I am a sixty-year-old person who just added to his fleet last week. Your sobering comment just reminded me that as soon as I get home from this business trip, I need to at least start thinning down the herd – while I’m resurrecting the new ride. Thank you, sir, for the wake up call.
Best wishes to the pair of enthusiasts working to get all of these once-loved luxoboats back into loving, driving hands. And best of luck to all the new lovers.
I don’t get all the negativity. While these cars may not appeal to everyone, there will be buyers out there. These appear to be in good shape compared to the rusted out relics that are often featured here. Those relics seem to get more positive comments. Sure the seller could include more info up front, but i’m guessing that they will communicate with a serious buyer.
Joe Palmer, do you still have any of the w108’s or w126,s? I’d be interested in all of them
no apology necessary, we have a huge task to extract and sell all these cars. they will all be good projects at fair cost. not rusty and most will run with a new battery and fresh gas. THX
yes we have five W126s ranging from excellent poor. Also there W116s all fair condition
Joe how would I get in touch with you for further discussions?
I apologize for my previous negative comment. You have some fine cas.
Sorry my phone doesn’t want to type r in cars. Now do you have any 60’s Buick’s? First gen Rivs or 66 Skylark ( preferably convertible) with 4 speed manual trans?

Attempted to upload 30 pictures taken this weekend; Craigslist has removed the ad without explanation; may repost the ad this week; someone didn’t like the ad I guess;
CL will remove ads if there are a number of people who hit the “prohibited” button at the top of the listing. From my experience, that is often done by someone wanting to protect the find from other eyes, thereby having a better shot at a lowball purchase. The guy hammering you on a price? Telling you that he is the only real buyer you’ll get? He’s the one who flagged the post.
joepalmer:
You may want to have those images hosted in a site dedicated for that and just post a link in the ad to the home page for the images. And BOO to the person who flagged the ad… the rest of us like cars, like to look at cars even IF we can’t put them anywhere/ buy them/ fix them.
who buys all these cars and leave them in this state theres a rolls roys an old jaguar and others cant say what they are the fella whos left these in this state probly want some kind person to clean them up and make them better than they were before
