8,560 Original Miles: 1984 Chevy Corvette

Does it get much fresher than this? Under 9,000 original miles are on this minty 1984 Chevrolet Corvette, which presents in as-new condition. Many of these cars were put away as future investments, but most of those cars are seemingly red or white in color – finding a timewarp specimen in silver over gray leather is a treat. Find this showroom-fresh Corvette here on eBay with bidding over $7K and the reserve unmet.

While they never became the collector’s items many speculators had hoped, it’s still a thrill finding what amounts to being a brand-new car from 1984 up for sale. The design of this generation of ‘Vette always looked good; it was the lackluster performance that kept its reputation (and value) from ever taking off and nothing it a permanent place in Corvette enthusiasts’ hearts.

Despite being nearly new, some flaws are still noted. The seller lists a scratch on the passenger side B-pillar and a non-functioning power antenna. The antennas tend to fail with lack of use, so no surprise there. The scratch on the B-pillar likely just occurred while sitting in storage. Fortunately, the interior looks as good as you’d expect, and the gray leather sport seats show only minor creasing.

Sadly, this isn’t one of the more desirable manual transmission examples. When enthusiasts were snatching these up as future investment chips, many of them likely thought the automatic was the preferred spec, but over time, the manuals have emerged as the more profitable choice if flipping is your thing. Still, a new-in-the-wrapper Corvette is always a treat, especially when wearing a lesser seen color like this.

You do realize the car is in Belgium. I wonder if it’s anymore desirable over there than it is here?

The other car he has listed is much more interesting.

It is surely not coming back over here. The shipping cost will equal the value of the car.

Nope! I bet even with this mileage it’s not a five-figure car. I guess Europe gets to keep it.

Is there a mechanic over there today who is familiar with cross fire injection?

There is definitely one in County Kent UK. CCM Corvettes. And there are Corvette clubs all over Europe including Belgium. Should not be an issue.

I propose replacing the term “Original Miles” with “NOS (New Old Stock) Miles”. It makes about as much sense.

Should have driven it and taken care of it simultaneously….it would be worth the same money.

These are kind of boring. Automatic in a Corvette! No thank you.

I bought an 84 from the original owner in 88 . It had 172000 miles on it and it ran great . The 700r4 had been rebuilt at aprox. 150K . I sold it to a guy that tube chassied it and ran a Merlin big block with a lenco . He got it from me at 197K miles . That was the Motor Trend “car of the year” in 1984 . It never let me down .

Well guys I had a 1985 Z/51 Corvette that I bought new I really did like the car except for the ride. This past august we went on the Covette caravan from New Mexico to Bowling Green Ky. and when we decided to go I told my wife that if we go in the 85 she would have to bring home in an ambulance because of my back and knee problems, we sold it to a neighbor and he’s loving it when I sold it, it had 31,000 miles and was still running great. We purchased a 2006 3-LT which is way more comfortable. These cars get no love but those of us who have had them think they are ok
