Almost Cheap Wheels! 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

A personal luxury car, the Monte Carlo was one of Chevrolet’s most popular products in the 1970s and 1980s. The car made a resurgence in the mid-1990s, and the final generation (2000 to 2007) included the seller’s nice 2005 edition. Said to run well, the seller says he/she has one too many cars, and the Monte needs to go. Located in Woodbridge, New Jersey, this Bow-Tie is available here on craigslist for $5,500. Our thanks to Mitchell G. for a not-so-vintage tip!

From 1970 to 1988, the Monte Carlo rode on a rear-wheel drive platform, which GM discontinued. After a seven-year hiatus, the MC returned in 1995 and was largely inspired by NASCAR as the Lumina had become outdated. Many Chevy teams, including Dale Earnhardt, found success on the track with the revived nameplate, which stuck around through 2007. 2004 would be the car’s last “big” sales year, with production dropping by nearly half to 37,000 units in 2005 when the seller’s example was built.

The seller’s car seems in great shape for its 20 years and 79,000 miles. It’s priced to be a great second car or a first for someone on a budget. It’s the snappier LT model, which is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. While it won’t give you whiplash from a standing start, it should deliver 30+ mpg on the highway. We’re told the Chevy runs great and everything, including the factory A/C, works as it should.

From the photos, the body, paint, and matching interior all seem to be up to snuff. With the front seats all the way back, the rear passengers will be short on legroom, suggesting you only try to shoehorn kids back there. We think this is a turn-key purchase that’s been recently inspected. Can you do any better for five grand these days?

That’s a steal at that price, and seems to be very well kept. These are very reliable. I had an ’07, and should’ve kept it.

I had an 06 for my wife it was trouble free, very comfortable great pick up for what it was and the mileage claim is correct. Another one I wish I kept. This is a great deal for someone for sure, if it were closer I would take a serious look at it.
