Dumb And Dumber Replica! Mutt Cutts 1993 Ford Econoline Van

Two things immediately come to mind I can put on our big TV that will all but guarantee my wife will leave the room if I’m yearning for some alone time- an episode of Cheaters, or any part of Dumb And Dumber.  And if new episodes of Cheaters were still being made, I’d have to contact the producers and suggest they acquire this 1993 Ford E150 Econoline Van here on eBay for the show.  Can you imagine the fresh spin it would have added to the background if Joey Greco and the film crew were first spotted jumping out of this thing before confronting an unfaithful lover?  Maybe you have a much better idea, so if this one interests you it’s located in Toms River, New Jersey, with the seller hoping for $34,995.

While Dumb And Dumber may not be for everybody, the movie does have an avid legion of fans, and if you’re in the top ten this may be your chance to show the world how much you love the adventures of Harry and Lloyd.  One minor detail though- the actual van used in the film was a 2003 model, but these didn’t change much on the outside over a decade, and with all that fur nobody’s gonna know the difference anyway.

In all fairness, the builder did a noteworthy job replicating the Mutt mobile, and if it’s a sunny day this one may be fun to drive to Cars And Coffee on a Saturday morning, at least for a couple of weeks.  Or if you happen to own a mobile dog grooming business and live in a climate where it rarely rains, maybe this could be your company van.  Trying as I am, there aren’t too many other uses I can conjure up.  Maybe some of our readers can add some ideas for other potential practical applications for this novelty.

Other than the fact that the van has 89,000 miles, we get very few additional details, other than it’s in good running condition, clean, and stored indoors.  I’d hate to see the outcome from outdoor storage.  Oh yeah, and there’s a clean title.  The only actual metal I could spot is inside the doors, which is white, definitely a good choice for such an application.  But we don’t know if there were any rust issues or what kind of condition the body was in before the transformation, so I might ask for a peek underneath all that bling before plopping down my hard-earned cash.

Things inside look rather inviting from the seats back, with an ordinary dash layout that includes a period-correct cassette player.  It’s a bit dusty on the control panel, so I’m guessing the van doesn’t get much use, but maybe the next owner will find the perfect niche and drive it a lot more.  The seller is also accepting offers, should you feel inclined.  How are you envisioning the future for Mutt Cutts van?

Seller: ‘What are my chances (on you submitting a best offer to buy this van)?”
    Me: “Not Good”
Seller: “You mean like, one out of 100?”
    Me: “I’d say…more like, 1 out of a million.”
    Seller: “So you’re telling me there’s a chance….yeah!!!!”

$35.00 really? I would re-think that. The seller has over 22,000 items listed, mostly baseball cards.

Just the mention of Jim Carrey (Dumb and Dumber) is enough to turn me off on this one, plus the fact it is downright ugly.

Somewhat like a dirty sock that needs to be turned inside out prior to dropping in the washer, this vehicle is the inverse of my Dodge custom van that I drove through the 1970s. Mine was carpeted floor, walls and headliner- you know, on the inside. I can’t imagine trying to keep the exterior of this clean- keeping the interior of mine was hard enough (weekly vacuuming, etc.).

This would make a great “getaway” car for a bank robber…low key, nondescript- blend right in with traffic.

I wonder if the rear legs fly up when the van goes over jumps.

No, but it tends to lift its right rear tire every time that you pass a fire hydrant…

You would need to carry a large sheet of plastic to throw over the veh. in case an unpredicted sprinkle or heaven forbid a thunderstorm came up while you were out and about. If it got drenched… the suspension might not be able to hold the weight. ha ha!

Perfect for Burning Man, but, it is hard enough to get the dust off a regular painted car (soda water, vinegar, lots of water and elbow grease), you’d be vacuuming this for weeks. But you could probably get a permit for this as an “art car” so you could drive it around, which is forbidden otherwise. And, if recent history goes forward, you only have a 50/50 chance of getting a ticket to get in, and, with this, probably get pulled over on the way for some slight violation of the Motor Vehicle laws in CA or NV (a revenue generator for the small towns along the way) and a ticket of that kind as well. For example, license plate partially obscured by bicycles on the back, no light on plate fastened to outboard bicycle, even in daytime, let alone 26 in a 25 zone. Been there, done that.

One correction to story. The move was released in 1994. I can’t see the actual van being a 2003. Typo?

My wife loves this movie. We still watch it together.
