Get to Virginia: Classic Auto Auction in Bedford!

If you’re in the Virginia area, there’s a classic car, truck, and motorcycle auction happening on October 5 in Bedford that may be worth checking out. It’s being held at the Bedford Lions Club and looks to have a nice variety of vehicles on display. One of the vehicles up for grabs is this imposing 1968 Oldsmobile S 442 with the Rocket 455 V8 paired to an automatic transmission and loaded with new tires, wheels, and interior. Find the rest of the field here on Joseph A. Pillow Auctioneers’ website.

The current auction pool offers a mixture of drivers, projects, survivors, and restored vehicles. There are two Jeepsters up for grabs, including one convertible model with factory winch bumper, and this 1970 Commando offered with two tops and just 81,000 miles on the clock. The listing description even says it’s in daily-driver-friendly condition.

This 1986 Chevrolet Silverado is said to be a one-owner example with just 69K miles and still wearing its original paint. While appearing to be a less desirable long-bed example, these are still increasingly valuable trucks that are only going up in price. For me, I’d need to see this on on Rally wheels before making a determination if I’d pass up a similarly clean short-bed for an original paint example like this.

Then there is the always-stunning 1947 Indian Chief motorcycle, that is either a beautiful survivor or fully restored specimen. The listing doesn’t go into detail, but there are plenty of vintage motorcycles to choose from if two-wheeled rides are your thing. There’s also a few vintage sidecars for sale, too. Plenty to choose from at this upcoming vintage auto and bike auction – what do you see that you’d take home?

That’s only about 1/2 hour from here, but the
British car meet @ Waynesboro is the same day.
    I guess I could save $25,000 (that I don’t have),
    & go to Waynesboro instead.

It is about an hour from me. I have been trying to decide whether I am going to go or not. I am rather fond of the white Galaxie for some reason.

They list a 1970 Ford Torino GT with 428ci. That wasn’t an option for 1970, the 429ci was. Engine transplant or a typo? Either way, that Torino would be the car for me. The auction house also lists two nice looking Galaxies with one being a ragtop. The ’66 Fairlane is tempting, too. Some very nice choices if you like Ford muscle.

The same for 68 442, no 455 avalable in 68. Would have bad the 400 in it. So either auction company dont know crap about cars or owner listing them in auction.

455 only available in Hurst 442 in 1968…1970 started the 455 run in 442.

“The less desirable long bed model”. Ha! Give me an 8′ bed 99 out of 100 times. I really wish people would stop cutting them up to make shorties!

If you want a shorty, save up your cash and buy one. You’ll end up spending less in the long run anyway.

Save the real trucks for those of us that actually like to use them as trucks!
