Grandma Grocery Getter: 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Disclosure: Barn Finds may receive compensation from clicks and purchases. Use caution when purchasing vehicles long distance. We recommend inspections before sending money.

Originally a high-end version of the F-85 compact, the Cutlass became a series of its own and was upgraded to a mid-size automobile in 1964. A styling refresh came in 1966 that held into 1967, except the front turn signals were moved between the dual headlights. This 1967 two-tone 4-door sedan was Grandma’s car until she quit driving (it has some garage dings from her escapades). In good-running and original condition, this 59-year-old survivor awaits a new home in Kennewick, Washington, and is here on craigslist for $3,600.

Non-Supreme Cutlass models were big sellers in 1967, with Oldsmobile pumping out more than 84,000 in all body styles. More than one-third were 4-door sedans like Grandma’s car, which left the factory with a 330 cubic inch “Jetifre” V8, automatic transmission, and power steering and brakes. By the time she quit driving, the Olds had accumulated 111,000 miles, so the car was no garage queen. We’re told the paint is white over green, but the primary color looks blue to me, just like the interior.

This car was well-maintained, so it runs and drives as it should. The interior presents quite well enough, though the carpeting may be getting faded in places (well, it has been nearly 60 years). The paint is thought to be 90% original, accented by grey primer and a few little dings that Grandma added. If you want to replace the worst of it, an extra fender is part of the deal. Rust is at a minimum and easily repairable if you choose to repaint the vehicle.

Grandma may or may not have been the original owner, but the car’s Protect-O-Plate and repair manuals were saved and go with the sale. The original radio was removed, but it was saved along with the dashboard plate, in case you want to reinstall it. If you’re looking for a solid survivor that you could tinker with as you use it, would you give this Olds a new home? Thanks for the heads up, Rocco B.!

An honest, used car at a solid price! Kids would recoil if received as a HS grad gift, but a parent could use this as a second car and get it to Earl Scheib for a once-over…or break out the masking tape and house sprayer and have at it!!
