We’ve featured several cars over the years at Barn Finds that have ties to a famous person, and this 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Limousine was once the very land yacht that Ed McMahon could be seen proudly riding around in between 1968 and 1972. NBC had authorized the purchase of this limo from a Cadillac dealer in Pennsylvania to be the on-call vehicle for Ed’s personal use, but The Tonight Show was gaining ground and in 1972 relocated to Burbank, California, and at that time the car went back to that dealer to be sold. Now it’s looking for a new home again, so if you’re in the market for a vintage limousine or a celebrity relic, maybe this could be the one. The Cadillac can be seen here on eBay with bidding currently sitting at $3,850, and you’ll have to visit Fort Washington, PA to see the car in person.
The story goes that the buyer who purchased the Cadillac in ’72 was excited about its celeb status and thrilled to get it, and apparently only drove the car on vacations and special occasions. Fast-forwarding to 1984, the car was driven one final time into a barn, where it spent the next 38 years until the seller recently found and acquired it. He describes the body as being laser straight, although there were some amateur rust repairs and paint fixes made at some point in the quarter panels and front fenders. The good news is there are no obvious signs of rust underneath the padded vinyl top, although the material is pulling up around the rear moldings.
Moving inside, the seller calls the overall condition of the interior remarkable to be over 50 years old, including the dash pad, headliner, sun visors, kick panels, and carpeting, although the latter looks like it could use a good thorough cleaning. The passenger seat is showing a handful of small splits on the down cushion, and it’s got me wondering if they were made by the late Ed himself back in the good old days!
Although the car was still running when it was parked, the seller states that it is currently not, as he’s not equipped to begin the restarting process, so don’t plan on driving this one home. However, when a jump box was connected to the car, the radio and clock worked, all of the windows functioned, and even the lights turned on, so hopefully, there are no electrical gremlins hiding for the next owner to deal with. This is also a no-reserve auction, so the high bidder has bought themselves a 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Limousine along with what remains of Mr. McMahon’s DNA in the rear! Wonder if Johnny ever rode back there?
May a heard of goats take a walk in your shorts.
I doubt that a lot of people would know who he was nowadays.
I met him years ago at a book signing. As I was buying the book, a coworker of the young cashier asked her who was signing books? “Ed McMahon, whoever that is” was the reply

Hey! – watch it!.That’s an insult to Fiesta owners.
And an even bigger insult to Kathy’s fiesta. Ole!
I’ll trade screen legend Anthony Quinn’s undershirt. He took this off to do sit-ups in the park and I nabbed it.
Everyday a few more people forget who Ed McMahon was…..
Added value? Zero
(Sorry Ed…) RIP
Ed probably got drunk as hell in the back of this thing lol

Where’s the documentation to back up this story? Without documentation, the story is just a piece fiction.
never one for provenance (cept 4 ephemera ).
Does it run’n stop well? How much body wrk needed (my bane… I now pay another), etc.
I was never 1 for TV, esp that late. By the time I could choose to watch, it would be SNL for a music performance I wanted. Y was Ed on “Johnny” any way? Some 1 to pick on?
