Besides the Pontiac GTO (1964), the Plymouth Road Runner (1968) was perhaps the biggest hit of the muscle car era. Based on the B-body Belvedere, the Road Runner began as a budget muscle machine compared to the upscale GTX model (a Satellite derivative). The seller’s 1969 edition has the high-performance version of the 383 cubic-inch V8 with a 4-speed manual transmission. It runs and is numbers-matching, but it will need some time in the body shop. Located in Lakeside, California, this aging Mopar is available here on eBay. The current bid is $15,000; there is a reserve to be met, or you can pass-go and take it home for $21,000.
The HiPo version of the 383 Magnum V8 produced an additional five horsepower over the “regular” 383 (335 horses vs. 330). Plymouth built a record 82,000 copies of the Road Runner in 1969, and the majority of them had one or the other under the hood. Optional upgrades included a 440 V8 and the Hemi. The VIN provided by the seller confirms this, and the seller says the duo has numbers that match.
We wish some history on this Plymouth was provided, but it is what it is. The color of this car may have once been Banana Yellow (a variant of bronze), but it’s all worn out and doesn’t match, suggesting maybe the door or something has been replaced and repainted. The odometer reading is 85,000 and – if this Mopar has been dormant for a while – could be legit and not a rollover.
Rust is plentiful but may not be critical except around the rear window glass. Its presence there makes you wonder about the trunk or area behind the rear seat. According to the seller, this Road Runner runs and drives but doesn’t say how well. Chances are, a lot will be needed to make it a daily driver, at a minimum. Once again, “Curvette” finds another great tip for us.
Rally wheels ???? Didn’t come out till 70 and there should be14x6.5 magnum 500 with beauty ring!!!!! Make it rightmannum 500 are 14×6.5 and at mopar pre 71 has body colored painted wheels!
Have you had a stroke? Pretty obvious its been a very long time since any effort was made to make this car correct. It has a Satellite fender for one. Odd that you’re fixated on the correct wheel dementions/style above the many glaring other issues.
Better check those wheels sizes again on factory 1966-1970 14″ wheels….I actually went to the painted FoMoCo wheels for my 1970 Challenger R/T because they were wider…….

Anyone serious about finding an 68-69 Roadrunner that lives within driving distance will make time to see it in person. It is expensive and has rust, hopefully not structural, but it’s a 4spd and is complete.

With out seeing the fender tag for the paint code I would say it was T3 on the paint. Honeycomb.
not a lot of info and some really poor pics. needs a lot of work. this 50k+ to redo.
I had a ’69 Plymouth Satellite decades ago and one of the big issues was water leakage into the trunk. Just looking at the filler panel under the rear glass and the underside shot where the gas tank is pretty much confirms that trunk floor is going to be a goner.
With everything wrong with the body, rust and interior, Y’all talking about wheels the easiest thing to change. When you strip it down to resto the rust problems the wheels are off. I have to laugh sometimes about comments.

The 440 Magnum was not an option on a Road Runner. Only the mid-year “440 6BBL” (A12) was produced in limited numbers.
Also, what is “Banana Yellow”? That was never an option on any Plymouth. The only options for yellow in 1969 were “Sunfire Yellow (Y2), Yellow Gold (Y3), and the special order “Bahama Yellow” (999…produced in limited numbers).
The rust through at the bottom of the back window should be a clue that there is serious corrosion inside this car. To restore this car to a long lasting high standard will require chemical stripping of the entire car before beginning the metal repair. Of course, you wouldn’t have to do that. You could just patch the spots and put a paint job on it and unload it on someone like they do on television.
