Huge Stash Of Vintage Mopar Projects!

Sitting somewhere in Brighton, Minnesota, is this large collection of over a dozen Mopars, all of which are reported to have good frame rails and mostly good sheet metal on the floors and trunk pans.  Best of all, the seller says prices start at just $3,900 except for parts cars, which presumably fall under that amount.  This seems like a great opportunity for Chrysler fans who are looking for a single project, or perhaps a treasure trove if you’re in the market for several.  This 1972 Dodge Challenger is said to be an original 340 4-speed car, and it’s just one of the many offerings available here on Craigslist.

Many of the cars represented here don’t include much specific information, and most just feature a single photo.  However, one that is elaborated on a bit is this 1970 Dodge Coronet, which the seller says has been cloned into a Super Bee.  The details are sparse, but it’s wearing Sublime paint, one of the extra-cost High Impact colors from the period.  There’s a black scooped hood, and this is one of the cars that appears to be stored inside, so perhaps this B-Body isn’t far from ready to perform.  The one visible back tire also looks brand new.

Another garage offering is this 1970 Plymouth Duster, which has been made into a race car that’s said to run 11-second quarter miles.  Unlike most of the others, it’s claimed to be a turnkey vehicle, indicating it’s running and ready for the next owner to get behind the wheel of and enjoy.

One more Plymouth unit claimed to be worthy of driving home is this 1967 Belvedere.  This car actually looks pretty good overall on the side we can see, and with some quarter panel repairs and a fresh coat of paint, it could be a nice driver without a whole lot of effort.  The engine-and-transmission combo remains a mystery, but this one appears to be at a reasonably good starting point.

I have to disagree with one point the seller made about this 1977 Chrysler New Yorker.  He suggests that this sedan would make a good demolition derby entrant, and I’d hate to see that happen.  It’s also stated to be 440-equipped, and must be running if it can survive the fate of being tortured in a fight to the finish.  Hopefully, someone will either use this as a parts car instead or, better yet, bring it up to a level where it can be a useful driver.

Not specifically mentioned but photographed is this Dodge Magnum, a sporty two-year offering available in 1978 and 1979.  It’s looking a bit faded on the outside, but it appears mostly complete, and is hopefully solid enough to be worth getting back on the road.  This 1966 Dodge Coronet convertible might also be a decent project, but I hope it hasn’t been sitting outside with the top down for too long.  Is there a particular car in this collection you find particularly intriguing, or might be interested in pursuing?

This is refreshing, but not surprising from the great folks of the upper Midwest, who seemingly, haven’t been “poisoned” by the west coast schtick. Pretty obvious what’s going on here, these “collections” are coming up at a horrific rate with a direct correlation to the number of funerals. I don’t think the “kids” really want to get rid of dads treasures, heck, they probably grew up in some of these cars. It’s just, with the meltdown of society, these folks are strapped for cash, and a desperate, last gasp effort to regain some sort normalcy. The cars must go. Too bad everybody else is in the same boat, and I think some of these cars will find homes, I doubt the Super Bee or Duster are $3900, the folks are cool, but not stupid. The New Yawker? Get the wooden stick, tis’ a demo car for sure. The “others”? ,,boy, I just don’t know.

Oh Lord I hope that Chrysler isn’t bought for the county fair! That would be such a waste of a car that could be brought back to life and enjoyed 😉 Dodge Magnums… okay bad memories stirred up there. The car itself was beautiful but I was painting a black 78 Magnum in 82 when my garage lights went out! The power stayed on, but the lights went dark thanks to a friend who claimed to be an electrician! I just shot the roof and hood on the 3rd and last coat when suddenly darkness! Imagine black mist in a dark garage? I opened doors and it was too late. The bugs 🐛 landed on it and I had the biggest paint sags ever seen. Yeah Magnum 😊
