Parting with a car that has been part of your life for almost six decades must be a difficult decision. However, once you’ve celebrated your ninety-third birthday, you know that day is fast approaching. It has arrived for the owner of this 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible, meaning it is destined for what will be only its second home. It presents exceptionally well for its age and is a turnkey proposition with no known shortcomings. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Curvette for spotting the Mustang listed here on eBay in Los Angeles, California. Handing the seller $24,995 will secure your spot in this Mustang’s life, but the seller will consider offers.

After its 1967 refresh, Ford performed a second styling upgrade to the mega-successful Mustang for the 1969 model year. The car grew marginally larger, but remained largely true to the original design philosophy and clean styling. This Convertible rolled off the line that year and has spent its life in sunny California. Therefore, its rust-free status is unsurprising. The exterior steel is clean, and the underside shots reveal no existing or developing problems. Some paint shades look inherently “right” on classics from a certain period, and the owner’s decision to order their 1969 Mustang in Candy Apple Red is almost as iconic as it comes. The seller doesn’t mention restoration, but there is evidence in a couple of spots suggesting a cosmetic refresh at some point. It certainly doesn’t require a repeat performance if that is the case, because the Mustang’s presentation is excellent. The paint holds an impressive shine, the panels are straight, and the contrasting Black power top fits as tight as a drum. The Convertible rolls on a set of styled wheels, while the trim and glass are pretty clean for a driver-grade classic of this vintage.

This Mustang’s interior is trimmed in Black to match the top, and its condition is very clean. There is no genuine wear, and no evidence that the Californian sun has taken a toll on the trim. The dash is spotless, as is the carpet. The owner installed an aftermarket stereo with speakers in the doors and rear passenger areas. The LCD screen above the glovebox intrigued me, but I think I spotted a camera to the right of the passenger-side taillight in this shot. I suspect that the two are linked, which isn’t a bad safety device that the buyer could remove if they wished. The Mustang also features air conditioning and a remote exterior mirror, making life aboard this classic very comfortable.

Although buyers could still order a 1969 Mustang with a six under the hood, this car’s owner selected the F-Code 302ci V8. By combining this motor’s power and torque figures of 210hp and 300 ft/lbs, with a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes, they left the lot in a car that delivered excellent performance and an effortless, very civilized driving experience. The Item Specific section of the seller’s listing suggests an odometer reading of 38,000, though the figure doesn’t appear in the listing text. The car’s condition and history make the figure plausible, and that is a question worth asking. Considering it has been in the same hands since Day One, the owner may hold Service Records confirming the mileage. Otherwise, potential buyers can consider the Convertible as a turnkey proposition that runs and drives well.

In the grand scheme of things, this 1969 Mustang Convertible doesn’t seem particularly special, and its history probably adds nothing to its potential value. However, some classics are about far more than dollars and cents, particularly if they have a story to tell. Such is the case with this Mustang, which has been the cherished possession of one man for almost six decades. We have seen cars with longer ownership histories at Barn Finds, and writing about them feels like a genuine privilege. These cars always make me feel sentimental, and I hope that this Convertible finds a home with someone who appreciates its condition and the life it has led. You never know, but they may become so attached to this classic that they keep it safely parked in their garage when not prowling the streets for another fifty-seven years. We can always hope.

Looks like a good driver-condition Mustang. One could nitpick this and that, but as long as one isn’t expecting a concours car, it would make for a fun weekend cruiser. That Pep Boys bodyside molding does nothing for the car, and I believe those are actually wheel covers. Magnums would look great.

    Thank you Adam.
