The Mini-Cooper arrived on the automotive scene in 2000, a product built by BMW but marketed separately. Several variants would emerge, including the Mini-Cooper S as a convertible with a supercharger at first, replaced by a turbocharger later. The seller’s nice example from 2009 has the latter for a power boost and this car comes with a lifetime Titanium warranty which could be a boon when it has to go into the shop.
The color, Interchange Yellow, is said to be rare, but I’ve seen a lot of yellow Minis on the road over the years. This beauty may only have 47,000 miles and could be a blast to drive as the turbo is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The car has recently been serviced and sports a new set of tires, so it should be turn-key. I’ve never driven one of these, but the seller says it handles like a Porsche but uses much less gasoline.
According to the seller, the S model had a supercharger until early 2009 when a turbocharger came along to replace it. That should produce more horsepower where it’s needed. A Sports Performance Package was Included with the car’s assembly, and it comes with a “cold weather package”, too, but I have no idea what that entails. We’re told it’s always been garage-kept, but more recently that garage was temperature-controlled.
The Mini is available here on eBay where the current bid is $1,525 with no reserve. This might be the perfect summer car for those of you considering a little British roadster. It may not have the character of a vintage car but with the drop-top and tossability, it should be just as much fun to drive. Plus, it has air conditioning!
Hello , is that a Florida plate if not where is it from?
Can confirm these are great handling and very engaging to drive, as I currently own this Purple Haze supercharged R53.
My wife and I have owned two Cooper S minis. Fantastic to drive. Good mileage. Great handling and acceleration. Surprisingly roomy. And insanely expensive to maintain as they age. But I will probably make the same bad decision again in the future. God help me.
Agreed expensive like any import.
Luckily, this mini has a Titanium warranty, the best investment to make, no more out of pocket expenses.
My Porsche handles like a Mini Cooper
We are on our second one, a 2003 first and now a 2011 Turbo S, Lazer Blue Metalic. Push that go fast suspension button and you’ve got a go kart. 5 ft crew chief loves that everything is down on her level. Speedometer goes to 150 but it actually won’t go past 138. Can’t have everything.
I was given one of these as a loaner while my wife’s Clubman was in the shop. I took the afternoon off just to play with it. One could do worse if looking for a fun, chuckable convertible that drives like a hot hatchback. Leave the top down whenever you can; with it up the blind spots are insane.
My 04 Mini Cooper S with JCW package in Liquid Yellow has 250 hp at the wheels and still gets 32 MPG. I’d post a photo if I knew how. Decals in yellow say, “street legal go cart” on the side windows and “kiss my S” on the back window. License says TWEETY2 (TWEETY was already taken). Gets a lot of thumbs ups. I second all the fun to drive comments.
They started with the turbo in 07, the engines were Peugeot, not great but not horrible. The first generation cars were better, 05 and 06 were the best and now most sought after, all the bugs were worked out as well. The newest platform, the f56, is far better, more reliable, better safety ratings. As for the above comments about expensive repair bills, well, if you’re hard on them, like any car, the repair and maintenance will go up. These cars are super fun to drive and depending on your tastes, needs I would do some research.
Thanks for looking this Mini has already in place a Titanium top tier lifetime warranty no exclusions. No miles or time expiration.
Probably the only 09 mini that has this type of coverage.
Amazing policy..
Mini are great cars, 100 percent would not buy one unless there is a warranty goes with any preowned cars.
Also, want to mention this Mini is tight as a drum, new timing chain, all seals in front redone, brand new tires, brand new bilstein shocks, fresh alignment.
This car drives straight as an arrow….
This is a one off color interchange yellow has a touch of neon green great color.
