The “Dodge Rebellion” was an inventive marketing campaign launched by Dodge in 1966 to position that Chrysler division as the company’s performance carmaker. The Charger was introduced mid-year and was the leader of the pack for that initiative. Sales were kind of slow to begin with but took off in 1968. The seller has a first-year Charger that will be an ambitious project. It has been priced at $15,000 for that reason here on Facebook Marketplace. It appears to be hanging out alongside a road in Cartersville, Georgia. An attaboy goes to “Moparman” for the tip!
This Charger decodes as having a 383 cubic inch V8 under the hood, perfect for the whole Dodge Rebellion thing. It also has a floor-shifted manual transmission, which we assume is or was a 4-speed. Whether any of these are original to the Charger is another matter and would help justify the asking price. 1966-67 Chargers had seating for four with bucket seats for each passenger, and a full-length console is along for the ride.
We’re told the paint is black, but what’s left of it appears to be blue. Yet the interior is the stated color. These cars were especially cool with the hideaway headlights and fastback styling, and all the glass is still intact. This car has a 4-pod instrument cluster, which was exclusive to the early Chargers – they are electroluminescent and are supposed to glow at night.
Restoration would need to be the end game with this Dodge as the asking price is a lot to ask for a parts car. The seller says the machine has been driven 10,000 miles, but that makes no sense. Besides, it is in rough shape; there is no title for this car either. Would you be inclined to include this Charger in your own Dodge Rebellion?
Boy, it looks like that one has been through the wringer. It does look to be complete, though. The ask is a bit too much for the condition it’s in, but who knows? As the old saying goes: There’s an a$$ for every seat.
Agree and although it looks to have the optional 4 speed it’s a little ruff….save your money and buy a better one…..
It’s a money pit no matter how you think about it. I definitely wouldn’t pay $15,000, even if it was a #s matching engine & transmission. I almost guarantee that body is toast.
Way too expensive for its condition. Sure it’s a 383 and a 4spd, but who knows how long it’s been sitting in a field? Will the engine turn over, let alone run? It looks like everything will need addressing. These may be gaining in popularity, but not to the extent that potential buyers can approach them with an unlimited open checkbook.
When buyers become more disciplined prices will drop.

Unless the original engine was pulled, painted, and reinstalled, that’s not the original 383. The only engine leaving the assembly line painted orange in 1966 were street hemis. The practice of painting the high output variants of B/RB engines began with the 1969 model year. A 1966 383 would be the traditional Chrysler turquoise in use during that era.
The seller should reach out to Old Car City – just up the street – to see if they take donations.

15k?? Are they on glue? Parts car at best and maybe at that there’s only 3k worth of parts. It’s sitting there because it’s not capable of running. Frozen engine, busted tranny or something. So that means very little left that worth anything.
An extra zero in the price here. That is all I have to say about this.
