Single-Owner 1975 Chrysler Newport

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The 1975 Chrysler Newport was the 6th iteration of the model and one of the heaviest Chrysler ever made. Skyrocketing fuel prices made this model a tricky sell and ultimately the C-body Newport only lasted 4 years. The cars are sophisticated and designed with style and luxury in mind. This example has just 56k miles and a single owner which explains its excellent condition. The car was listed on Facebook in Saginaw, Michigan for $6,500. Thanks to Ted for the tip.

This Newport is finished in a factory cream and features mudflaps on all four tires and front and rear accordion-style bumpers. The exterior appears to be in excellent condition with no visible damage shown. The seller notes the car was garage kept so it is unlikely to have frame rust or decay. The car is being offered with new tires.

The car’s interior is in great condition and features color-matched cream leather and fabric seats throughout the cabin. The fabric portion of the seats is an ornate floral pattern which is also featured on the dash. The door panels have a matching leather finish. The seller featured a headliner image which shows a nearly perfect condition fabric lining. The car’s factory radio and clock still function and its airconditioning still blows cold air. It is uncommon to find a car from the ’70s with virtually no interior damage, the car’s next owner will hopefully look after the car as diligently as its current owner.

A V8 sends power to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. The car is said to run and drive like new and recently received a brake service as well as a fluid change. The seller reports that the car has zero leaks. The car is being offered with all of its service records. the seller is also considering trade offers. JCA of course you’re right ✔️ Jimmy was usually driving w his deputy lol, the Assistant Trailer park supervisor Randy riding shotgun. But I was referencing the episode where Ray had the car, and crashed it into a tree while driving around the park w Phil Collins 🍔 kid Jacob as a passenger. Lol too funny. 🍻

Chrysler found a NEW PORT of entry level luxury in 61, advertised at $2964, somewhat filling the slot of dropped DeSoto (3,200). Gradually the Newport became more luxurious and stylish as seen in this 75. Definitely worth the price 👌. A true MONUMENT to an era unfortunately never to be seen again 😢. There’s NOTHING left of Chrysler. And PLEASE don’t say Stelantis! 🤮 🤮

This car is double listed, I tuned out on the Michelle Rand write up at the mention about the dual carb options available on the ‘75 Newport. Ok. Misinformation on the ‘net is rampant.
Actually I think the word “barrel” was missed. It makes a lot more sense when you read it with the word barrel in there before carb.

These are nice cruisers and I had two uncles in the mid-late 70’s that had them new. Another neighbour had a New Yorker and the odd time we got a ride to school with his kids. Man it was like floating on air.

If the information I found is correct, the 75 Newport was available with the following:
    360 2 barrel, 180 horsepower
    360 4 barrel, 190 horsepower
400 2 barrel, 175 horsepower *i question this one, it would make sense @185
    400 4 barrel, 195 horsepower
    440 4 barrel, 210 horsepower

I acquired a 73′ Newport when it was 1 year old with 12,000 miles on it. It was a great car. Had the 440. It would cruise all day long at 80 mph and you weren’t tied at the end of the trip. Smooth ride. Kept it until it had 247,000
relatively carefree miles, succumbed to the Michigan salty roads. Great car.

The grille and turn signals look like they mashed together a ’72 Impala and a ’74 LTD.

    I bet it’s smooth.
