This 1973 Plymouth Duster has quite a few good points to consider, not the least being that it’s affordably priced at $6,500. Stepping up to the Gold Duster trim level included extras such as stripes on the sides and rear, special badging, full carpeting, and even a bit of extra insulation. I’m seeing several possibilities here, including not doing much of anything and just driving this one around for a while. It also doesn’t seem like an excessive amount of work would be required to take this coupe to a higher level, so whatever you’ve got in mind, this 1973 Plymouth Gold Duster can be viewed here on eBay. The car is in Keller, Texas, with the seller hoping for $6,500, but he’s also included that tempting make-offer button.

Being a Texas resident for its entire life has helped keep the metal solid on this car for the most part, with just a little rust developing around those federally mandated rear bumper guards. There’s also some small surface rust on the driver’s quarter, but that’s from a minor dent where the paint has been knocked off, with this same panel showing another crater closer to the door. The opposite quarter isn’t perfectly straight either, but the body looks pretty good overall, and I’m wondering if it may still be wearing most of the factory-applied finish.

It’s not specified if the 318 is original to the car or not, but the G in the VIN indicates that this car was indeed born with a small block of this size. This one’s had an aftermarket Edelbrock carburetor added, and there’s also an aluminum radiator up front helping keep things cool. The owner says that the Duster runs and drives, but also mentions that some wiring work is needed. Hopefully, that won’t be too much of a task to get straightened out, then this Mopar will be ready for some trouble-free cruising.

The Gold package also included a pleated seat, but unfortunately, the bench is in need of some new upholstery. A good-sized crack is also visible on the top area of the driver’s door panel, and the dash looks like it’s spent most of its days baking in the hot Lone Star sun. After addressing the wiring issue, I might follow by making a few interior improvements, then focus on the exterior last, as I’m kind of temporarily digging the worn-in vibe this one exhibits on the outside. What would you do with this 1973 Plymouth Gold Duster?

This is a better deal with A/C than the Charger listed before this for 17k if you want a Mopar.
A good price on a car like this one brings out my suspicions.
Flood damage would be my biggest fear.
I was this many years old when I “got” what Gold Duster means. LOL It goes along with the Prospector pickup.
I know the seller – he’s selling a runner at a reasonal price – but hey you can play arm chair buyer all you want. If I did’ny have 3 dozen or so cars I would be adding this one.
I had a 1973 Duster with the slant 6 and automatic. It had drum brakes all around. That car would not stop straight if you did a hard braking. I see this one has power brakes. Maybe it’s safer. Mine was a Florida car so no rust. I don’t find anything special about a Duster. But I’m sure someone will .
Not many floods around Dallas,Tx….this car should be gone gone….
