The Duster was a popular compact car from Plymouth in the 1970s. It was created by adding a sporty fastback body to the rather stoic Valiant foundation. Plymouth sold a ton of them from 1970 to 1976, including the performance Duster 340 and the Twister, a look-alike without all the power. This 1972 Twister has undergone a significant amount of work already, but attention to the sheet metal is still on the to-do list. Located in Hastings, Michigan, this running project is available here on eBay, where the starting bid of $12,500 has yet to be explored.

Lots of trim options were offered on the Duster, and one of them was the Twister. If you liked the image of the Duster 340 but didn’t want the horsepower or insurance rates, that was the way to go. With either the 225 cubic-inch Slant-Six or 318 V8, the Twister added special side stripes that gave the appearance of the Duster 340 look, along with a matte-black hood and a shark’s tooth style grille. To that, you could add a dual hood scoop, rear spoiler, and bucket seats to truly emulate the Duster 340.

The seller’s car looks the part and wears EV2 paint (Tor-Red, aka Hemi Orange in Dodge circles). It’s a 318 machine with a floor-shifted 3-speed manual transmission. Though it’s a solid runner as it sits today, bodywork is needed. Yet the seller has already taken care of a lot of problems, such as the floors, trunk, and tail panel. But at least one rear quarter panel will need to be acquired.

As a plus, if needed, the seller has a newly remanufactured V8 (displacement?) and tranny that will apparently be included with the sale. A plethora of other new parts are available, including a radiator fan clutch, wiring harness, brakes, exhaust system, and gas tank (among others). To finish off the interior, you’ll require a new headliner and front seat cover, plus a trunk lid for the exterior. This vehicle is a work-in-progress that will necessitate finding a new home to complete it.

Cool cat 🐈 too 👍 😎
Yes, is it 2021 ginger tabby fast cat, named “Puddi tat”. Good fur, eats dry and/or wet food. Litter box trained.
A great looking car..
Silly cat; thinks it’s a Cougar.
Ended by seller. Wrong grill. Scoops look aftermarket, no go-wing. Can’t read the fender tag to see if it is an actual Twister or just a Duster with a Twister stripe. I didn’t know they made Twisters in 1972, I thought they were only a 71 option?
Even if it were the rust makes it a no go on asking price.
The Twisters are a cool version of the car if they had the V8.
Engine colour on ground not the same as in the car and not only the valve covers.

The cats are loving the mice that are living in these cars.
