The now-iconic “Split-Window” Corvette was gone in 1964, having been a one-year-wonder. Complaints about outward visibility caused Chevrolet to replace the two-piece rear glass with a single wrap-around one. Sales were not impacted, as the Corvette grew by another modest 3% to set a new (then) record. This 1964 Corvette is the popular coupe, which compared more than one-third of demand. Looking like an older restoration or a wonderful survivor, this ’64 ‘Vette is available in Crestwood, Kentucky, and here on craigslist for $71,500. A wave to Tony Primo for the cool tip!
Second generation Corvettes ran from 1963 to 1967, bringing with them a near 50% increase in demand over the peak during Gen 1. Also, the surname Sting Ray was coined and has stayed with “America’s Sports Car” for the duration of its existence (which hasn’t ended yet!). A 327 cubic inch V8 was standard, producing 300 hp, and the one in the seller’s car is numbers-matching. That Corvette also has an M20 4-speed manual transmission. Vintage air conditioning has been added, and it works nicely in the 2-seat passenger compartment.
The seller doesn’t use either of the terms “original” or “restored” in the listing, so this Chevy could be either one. If the claimed 39,000 miles is legit, we’d have to lean toward the latter. The Silver Blue paint presents well against the fiberglass body the Corvettes have been noted for. And the dark blue interior contrasts nicely with no apparent flaws. The car even has seat belts, which were finally becoming the safety norm in the 1960s.
We’re told this is a turnkey ride, right down to the working factory clock. So, all you have to do is put some gas in the tank and hit the roads. The seller doesn’t exaggerate about the car, but knowledge of its known history over the past 62 years would be helpful. This isn’t a Split-Window ‘Vette, but it appears to be as nice as they come, down to the spinner wheel covers. Also, the seller says delivery is available (but for how far?).

A great looking Corvette, 1963-1972 the best body style. Never been a fan of wheel covers and white walls on any two door car. I believe the first year for a rally wheel on a Corvette was 1967. They should have started that in 1963. Two door, V8, and a third pedal. Gotta love it.
