Bluesman Little Milton sang a tune called “Age Ain’t Nothin’ But A Number” back in the early eighties, but sadly, this doesn’t always ring true in the vintage Corvette community, as we’re seeing quite a few of these cars coming on the market due to the owners just getting too far along in years to continue driving them. Some of these examples have been under the same ownership for decades, such as this 1970 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, and it’s a real beauty. The car is located in Miami, Florida, and can be found here on eBay with bidding currently at $18,100. There’s no reserve, so the high bidder will own a red C3.
The seller tells us that the ‘Vette previously belonged to an older gentleman for a very long time who just recently made the decision to sell, as he began to realize that age is more than a number and that in his mid-eighties he was finding it difficult to drive. The car had been his weekend driver, and it sure looks like the recipient of decades of care and lots of TLC.
Red is the original color, and while it’s not mentioned if this is the original finish or not, the fact that it’s sitting next to Auto Club Body And Paint may be a clue that it’s had a recent respray, or maybe that’s coincidental. New paint or not, the exterior presents very well all the way around, and the photos seem to back up the seller’s claim that the body is nice and straight. The convertible top is new, and the car also comes with a hardtop, which looks pretty good as well but it needs to have the headliner attached. The chrome bumpers and trim all seem to be in good shape, as do the rally wheels, and those Radial T/As look like there are plenty of treads left on them.
It’s a small block car, but the 350 is said to be the numbers-matching engine. No word on whether or not it’s ever had a rebuild, but with just 42,000 miles it may still be running strong without the need for an overhaul yet. Everything under the hood is tidy and looks to be in good order, with no obvious signs of leaks or anything showing that looks like it’s in need of immediate attention. The 4-Speed is said to be a strong performer, with both the clutch and brakes said to be in great shape.
While it may not be quite perfect, the inside looks overall well-preserved to be over 50 years old, and in quite a decent condition for a driver. The clock and tach are not functioning, but the rest of the gauges are working, as are the radio, wipers, and headlights. I’m liking this one a lot and hope the car ends up in the hands of someone who will leave it like it is, and just drive it and continue giving it the care it deserves for many years to come. Little Milton was great, God rest his soul! My favorite song of his was “Hey, Mister Gentleman! Your Wife Is Cheating On Us.”
It’s still a classic as is a 1970 convertible Corvette with a 4speed.

In regards to whether we are friends with the sellers of the cars we post about or not, I assure you, the answer is no. I can’t speak for every staff writer, but I rarely ever even look at who the seller is when I’m writing a post. I did go back and look at this particular seller’s other listings and noticed every sold item on his first feedback page is a Corvette, so obviously he has established a solid presence in that marketplace.
While I enjoy posting on just about everything, Corvettes are one of my favorite cars to write about, and we do feature quite a few of them. But with the amount of these cars manufactured and all the years they’ve been in production, there are lots of them on the market at any given time, and we don’t have the resources to feature all of them. And I’m sure there are some great ones that pass us by.
Rest assured, we look at every tip that comes in, and please keep them coming! With Corvettes, in addition to the clean and nice cars, maybe also be on the lookout for unique examples, customized cars, or unusual features that would make them stand out from their counterparts. I too love Corvettes, C3 in particular since I owned / restored one over a 30 year period. My comment was rather snarky, I admit, it’s just something that caught my eye and thought it strange. I do admit that the seller comes up with some great finds, although I’ve heard that the Corvette Forum community eyes him with some caution.

Is that red overspray or just a reflection on the top corner of the passenger seat back?
I’m hoping it is a reflection. That vinyl is shiny and overspray in that area would be a grievous mistake.
As someone who has once owned a 68 olds cutlass conv and a 70 Javlin SST, I think this beautiful and affordable classic will make someone very happy. Plus it’s a Corvette.
