47k Mile Survivor: 1975 Lincoln Continental Mark IV

Over the years, we’ve featured quite a few low-mileage Lincoln survivors on the site, and this 1975 Continental Mark IV is another beautiful example.  It’s also said to have been with the same family since new.  While the ’75 Mark IV was already a very chic land yacht even in base form, adding one of the optional luxury group packages took things to an even higher level, and this one here on Craigslist features the Blue Diamond Luxury Group treatment.  Driven just 47,000 miles, the seller reports that it remains all original, and they’ve set the asking price at $25,000.  This one’s located in Crested Butte, Colorado, and we’d like to thank reader Barney for spotting it and sending in the tip!

It wasn’t until the 1976 model that the special designer series packages became available on the Mark IV, and the Givenchy edition wore the same color paint as the Diamond Luxury Group from the previous year, so I believe the seller has mistakenly listed this one as featuring the Cartier package.  However, they were similar, and the Aqua Blue Diamond Fire Metallic paint is said to be original and still looks glossy.  There are some very minor dings on the body, but the presentation is excellent, and the dark blue vinyl top is claimed to have never been replaced.

The interior is described as close to “like new perfection,” and after reviewing the photos, the seller may be on the right track.  It’s reported that their mom bought this car new and kept it garaged in dry Colorado when it wasn’t being driven, which has helped prevent the dash and weatherstripping from becoming brittle.  The condition inside is also a strong clue that the mileage is likely accurate, and the 8-Track player still works, currently playing Abbey Road when the cartridge is engaged!

No photo from under the hood is posted, so we don’t get to see the massive 460, which was the one and only engine available for the Mark IV in 1975.  However, it’s said to purr like new and made a trip to Las Vegas successfully a couple of years ago, with the one thing mentioned as needing replacement being the A/C compressor.  25 grand isn’t exactly cheap for a 1975 Lincoln Continental Mark IV, but given its condition and originality, it’s possible this one could find a willing buyer at or near that price.  What do you think?

  1. If seller is asking top dollar, he should replace the AC compressor and get the system serviced and working. Who wants a luxury Lincoln with no AC? She’s clean as can be otherwise, but I think the price is based on some sentimentality here. My Mom had a 74 like this and my sister ran it in the ditch on a muddy dirt road while Mom and Dad were out of town. Boy did she get in trouble. Busted front pass tire and bummed up the front fender.

    Very nice
If I had room in the garage I would definitely buy it.
I currently have a 1970 Mark III 93 thousand miles all original with a delux Martin report showing it’s 1 of 2 from 1970.
