Package Deal: Collection of Five Cool Cadillacs

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Here’s something you don’t see every day. A collection of the same brand of automobiles from 1954 to 1975, only sold together. Five of these land yachts have been stored for at least a year, and they all run but may need some tinkering before seeing daylight again. Located in a dark garage in Glendale, California, this cadre of Caddies is available here on craigslist for $220,000. No exceptions.

We’ll start by stating the obvious. Selling five automobiles as a group is not the easiest way to find them all a new home. Most buyers are looking for a specific car, not an instant collection. And the seller’s hefty price tag is going to thin the herd of potential suitors. And, finally, craigslist is probably not the ideal place to find the unique kind of buyer who’s willing to bring a bucket of cash and five tow trucks to seal the deal.

Information and photos about this assortment of Cadillacs are lean. The oldest car is a 1954 4-door sedan (model?) that has an ample amount of blue paint to attract a would-be buyer. Then there’s a 1959 6-window sedan (model?) that sports silver, black, and white paint. It has some rocker panel rust and is the only car not to have a current registration. But it comes with rare factory air conditioning.

At least two convertibles are in the mix. One is a 1959, which is white over black, and the other is a 1960 model, which is black all over. We’re told the former has some rust in the trunk and that the latter has “political history.” That sounds juicy – so what are the details? Wrapping up the group is a 1975 Eldorado drop-top for which no further details are imparted. If you have $220 large hanging around, this interesting group can be all yours!

While facts seem to be of marginal interest these days, I did take a few minutes to look these cars up on Hagerty. And, of course it can be argued that Hagerty’s valuations are high.

Mind you, the photos and descriptions are woefully inadequate, so I feel the seller does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. I found that Hagerty’s total for these cars, all in basically #4 condition, would add up to around $170K, some $50,000 less than the seller’s ask.

Maybe the cars are better than #4 cars (which should run and have only minor cosmetic issues, but should be street-able vehicles) but there’s no way to know short of going to California to have a look, or to have the seller put some effort into the presentation.

And, of course, the elephant in the room that Russ points out is can you find a buyer willing to buy/transport/warehouse 5 Cadillacs? Given the price, this isn’t a group a flipper could make money on, I’d assume. I’ll be interested in the comments on this.

I guessed about $150K in total value. Generally speaking, a buyer receives the benefit of a discount when buying a collection of something – here the seller seems to think just the opposite.

What a Christmas gift 🎁 for our
Queen! Angel 😇 honey, you need to see this! It’s really rare to
see a collection of Cadillacs come up for sale like this so what’s next you ask? Maybe a
    collection of late ’50s Lincolns,
a gaggle of finned Imperials? A
    plethora of Packards? The good
Lord only knows what the next one will be. $220K for all that is
quite a gamble especially if you bought the lot and sold ’em separately. I think you’d be hard
pressed to recoup your investment as these cars by themselves are not worth 50K per
car. Sorry folks, but I can find a better use for the money–like a
nice house for me and my girls.
    …Just sayin’

A six-window sedan had fixed quarter windows. The blue ’54 is an example of a six-window sedan.

A four-window sedan had a more formal (flat-top) design. The rear window curved around to the side of the car eliminating the quarter windows.

Right you are Rex. The seller SHOULD consider selling them
separately. At least he or.she could move them faster. My fave
here is the ’54 sedan. It looks better than the others and would make a very fine daily driver with
a little bit of service. Think she’ll
make a nice portrait too. That Ocean Blue paint paired with a white roof just reaches out and grabs you and pulls you in. If ever there was a classy Caddy, this would be it. Got nothin’ to do
or make for a customer right now,
so why the hell not make a print of it. Who knows, I might just get
    a buyer.

I know ya’ll are waiting for me to comment.
My initial thought was I’m not sure that’s a 1975 Eldorado. I think it’s a ’76. ’75 had clear lens parking lights with yellow bulbs while ’76 has yellow lenses with clear bulbs. This has the parking lights of a ’76. If I could see the taillights I could tell for sure.
So, we have a sky blue 1954 4 Dr sedan, probably a Series 61 or Series 62, a white with black top convertible 1959 Series 62 or de Ville, a black 6 window 4 dr, 1959 w/a/c. Could be a Series 62, a Sedan de Ville, Fleetwood or Sixty Special, 1960 Series 62 or de Ville black on black convertible and last but not least a 1976 Eldorado convertible.
OMG, Ken, you put that in my head as a great Christmas gift for me. I am so envious of whoever gets to purchase this. 3 convertibles and 2 six window 4 Dr’s.
Damn! I need a well off husband! LOL

Angel, you are correct. The one shown is a 76. It has a finer grill. A 75 has a more course egg crate grill.
Of course, things could have been changed. I saw a 65 with a 66 rear bumper nice.
      Very nice observation.

There’s a law against this kind of baloney – the law of supply and demand. The price and condition of the supply mitigate heavily against the level of demand.

$220k is a “ALL in mint condition” price needing nothing but a museum with 5 BIG spots to house them for a collector, or maybe Jay Lenno! BOTH the 59 and 60 are worth around $35k to $40k each unless they’re Eldorado’s! The 59 Flat top is worth around $20k to $25k at best! The 54 4 door might pull $12.5k and the 76 Eldorado’s are real plentiful still selling in this condition for between $5k and $7k! Do the math, TOP DOLLAR on all 5 would be around $124,500 if sold individually, but someone buying all 5 at once should be a much better deal than that! I get the feeling his wife ordered him to sell them, but he don’t really want too lol!

Yes dear, that’s why I sent it to you. I thought you might like it when you saw it. Really dig the ’54 sedan myself. Decided to make a print of it AFTER I get a bit more practice on a ’70 Chevelle LS 6 in one of my adult
car coloring books. You guys should try ’em, they’re a real blast
and easy to use. It helps me to
stay in the lines when I do an actual print and then I make that
really rich paint that you folks like so much. And as for the price,
That pot they got in California must be good stuff Maynard!
