Take Your Pick: Four Classics For Sale

These are often the most interesting tips we get on Barn Finds – several cars that seemingly have nothing in common other than the seller may have collected too many of them. In this case, there are two Chevrolet 4-door sedans (1958 and 1960), a 1949 Ford panel van, and a Chevy “rat rod” of unspecified origin. Located in Gillette, Wyoming, this ensemble is available for $5,000 each (no discount for taking more than one?) here on craigslist. However, the listing is a few months old, so one or all of them may be gone. A tip from “Chuck F 55chevy”.

1960 Chevrolet Impala

All we know is what a couple of photos show us. It’s a 4-door sedan wearing red primer and some painted wheels. The body looks good, but we don’t know about the rest. Does it have an inline-6, a 283 V8, or something from later that’s more interesting? This seems to be the most solid of the group.

1958 Chevrolet

Is it a Biscayne or Bel Air, as the Impala was not yet offered as a sedan (that would come in 1959). This car, too, has four doors and has the same drivetrain questions as the other Chevy. It’s finished in some kind of dark green paint or primer, and the seller seems to be a fan of aftermarket rims.

1949 Ford Panel Van

This was once a post-war utility vehicle that’s more recently been done up as a restomod with black primer. It has a 302 cubic inch V8 and automatic transmission, both no newer than the late 1960s. We’re curious if any upgrades have been made to the interior, like the addition of creature comforts for watching movies from the back at the drive-in theater.

Chevrolet Rat Rod

Here, the vintage is unknown, but we’re guessing the roots of it go back to the 1930s. It’s a project that someone started and never finished. Has it been upgraded with modern hardware under the hood? Only an inquiry or personal inspection will answer that. We’re told that all four of these vehicles run at least enough to be driven onto a flatbed (and they have titles).
