Some automobiles are destined to become parts cars for good reasons, and in many cases, it’s often easy to see why right away.  At first glance, it’s hard to imagine this 1955 Jaguar Saloon falling into that category.  What could possibly make tearing this Jag apart conceivable?  We’ll delve into that below, but if you’re ready to take charge of its fate, this one is in Neosho, Missouri, and $2,500 will take it home.  Reader BCB42 found this vintage sedan here on Facebook Marketplace, and we’d like to thank them for providing the tip!

The Jaguar Saloon is one of those cars that screams British opulence, with classy exterior lines that look as tasty today as they did in the mid-fifties.  The sheet metal seems straight, at least on the right side, and nothing appears to be missing.  The panels also fit properly, and the white finish looks fairly decent.  However, things take a quick turn for the worse once you get past the body.  The seller uses two words to describe the downfall here: “has rust”.  Evidently, there’s a lot of it, and the photo from inside the left rear door suggests what’s probably also hiding elsewhere.

The seats don’t look too bad and might clean up well enough to use in another driver-quality Jaguar, or maybe even here if the buyer goes for a restoration.  No pictures show the entire dashboard, but the door panels clearly have plenty of wear and tear, and the floor seems to have significant corrosion.  Given that the owner doesn’t suggest saving this car, I can only guess the cancer may continue to the undercarriage.  Another idea they throw out is to use this Jaguar as an advertising piece, and I can see how putting one’s business information on the sides and parking it in front of their building would draw a lot of attention.

Another thing to consider is the mechanical condition, since it’s confirmed the engine doesn’t run, and there’s no explanation why.  I can certainly understand that it would be easier to part this one out, which might help bring another car back to life.  However, it’s also possible this one hasn’t quite reached the point of no return, though it’ll obviously take time, skills, and loads of cash to make all the needed repairs.  How do you envision moving forward with this 1955 Jaguar Saloon?

That’s funny, I was just looking at this car before this writeup showed up. I’d love to get this running and driving. It would definitely turn lots of heads. I don’t like the idea of turning it into a parts car. I see lots of potential.
