10 Vehicles Left! Kansas Car Collection

When you see a classic car collection up for sale, a common reason is that the owner or cheerleader has passed away. But, in this case, the seller is no longer in his prime and would like to see them gone before he is. When looking them over, many sounded familiar, and it turns out we reviewed what was available at that time a couple of months ago here on Barn Finds. Many of the vehicles have already been sold and the seller needs the rest moved before Winter comes to Lawrence, Kansas. The collection is listed this time here on craigslist and the prices of the cars have been reduced. Thanks for the reminder on this one, Chuck Foster.

The seller was in the car business for several decades and even shipped cars all over the world. He closed their retail business 13 years ago and kept what was remaining at that time. Fortunately, each of the cars has a clear title and the seller sounds willing to talk turkey. By the way, the list of vintage machines includes one cool motorcycle!

That happens to be a 1955 Oldsmobile Holiday 98 4 door hardtop. In 1967 when I returned from my time overseas with the army I bought one of these in black and white. It was a good car and I loved the wonder bar radio with a button on the floor next to the dimmer switch that automatically changed stations without having to take your hands off the steering wheel. Unfortunately I burned the valves driving from Tacoma, Washington to Redding, California wide open at 105 mph. That’s about 550 miles. After that I parked it in my garage until some guys came along who wanted to buy it, so I sold it. That car had a nice wide seat you could actually lay down in. My first wife and I tested it in Wolf Creek, Oregon.

If the Caddy runs or could be made to run without Major surgery and didn’t have any more rust than the normal at the bottom of the front fenders it might be worth looking into. The only other real problem could be the vinyl top. These were padded. Not something you could strip and forget. I know all of this from a failed restoration project years ago on a 67 Coupe Deville.

I think the guy in Michigan should get together with the guy in Kansas.
